The Language of the Goddess and other books by Marija Gimbutas might be helpful with your analysis of the symbols, I thought of her work the minute I saw the pics, she says chevrons are a symbol for water, I remember.

It's a great book for comparative stuff but the interpretations are , as might be expected wild and full of conjecture . She connects the chevron with the v and associates it with the Bird Goddess .The tri -line is more commonly associated with water according to her .
