Thanks for the comment Chris.
It's one of those things that nags at me every time i look at those drum carvings.
It might just be coincidence but it does seem to fit in some ways.
Now i've just got to interpret the other panels, back in 5 minutes. ; )

Another comment you made Chris.

"The barrow would have overlooked what could have been an important junction of 2 trading routes and it left me speculating on the possibility that there could have been some kind of stone marker at the bottom of the valley, although there is no record of one ever standing here."

2nd expanded view, left panel, could that be the site of your missing marker or maybe a pointer to the barrow itself. ?
