i recently took some pictures during a visit to the monolith and couldnt help but notice that on the clock tower the little "slitty" windows reflect the shape of the monolith perfectly. surely this cant be coincidence. any thoughts.

just been looking for an example of a pic showing a close up but the only one i can find is on my phone. i cant upload it as my data cable is fooked. could text the pic for uploading if someone pm's me with a phone no.

Hmm I can't see it.. I live fairly close and am off back there soonish and will have a look!

Talking of windows, have you been to the nearby church at Goodmanham? It's on the site of a Druidic and then Saxon shrine/temple and its windows show scenes of a recently-christianised 7th century king destroying it. An interesting area!

It sounds as though it might be one of those cases of life imitating art. Are there any fine carvings on the monolith? Where's the fourth Devil's Arrow?

shows what i mean
