Just to say it was really nice to see your photo of the slab with its carved feet on from the Bristol museum. I saw it there ages ago and funnily enough was planning a little trip to the gallery for this evening (they have a good art exhibition at the moment) but it's only open in the day (boring).

I also wanted to ask - does anyone know of any more carvings like this from this country that are of hands/feet? as it seems quite unusual to me in my unknowledgeable state. I suppose it's not quite the same as rock art as it's on a slab not a rockface?

There are a few in Scotland (big help and really narrows it down I know!) and I know of a few in Ireland. Don't know of ones in England/Wales though.

There must be some somewhere. They're often now assigned to some Saint's footprints, but were formerly at inauguration sites.

Cheers!

Yeah, I saw the Paradise exhibition while I was down in Bristol too. A few good things especially the Poussin painting ('Bacchanal before a Statue of Pan').

I should be down Bristol way quite a bit over the coming months cause Mrs IM is working down there till summer.
