Its proper name is Balgarthno, and is mentioned in CANMORE (RCAHMS) as such. It's about 1/2 a mile from where I live, and I was involved in the campaign to stop a grocer's shop opening up there and using the circle as a roundabout....

There was allegedly a circle known as Myrekirk or Mylnefield about half a mile west of Balgarthno - just past the BP garage on the dual carriageway to Perth, first turn left, there are a couple of houses up in the trees, the area still being known as Mylnefield. I have had a good look all round the area but nothing survives of the circle, described in Canmore thus:

"Within the grounds of Mylnefield (NO334301) there was a stone 'circle' which was 'elliptical in form and consisted of six large boulders - three at the east, three at the west with a gap between capable of holding an equal number of stones'.
A Elliott 1911."

I take it you're a local?

Yes I actually grew up in Thurso Crescent in Menzieshill and have a mild interest in the ancient history of the area. I now live at the other side of the city at the back of Monifeith where of course there are other interesting features, particularly Ardestie and the Laws.
