What makes you think the area needs ‘landscaping’? The landscape was already there – now it’s a hole with a ‘figure’ made from its spoil. Seems to me if you respect the landscape you try to return it to what it was before you fecked with it – period.

What particular point in history is the halcyon point we should aspire to? Should we reforest the bleak and wild upland moors of Britain while we're at it?
