Well in all that Stoneshifter it would seem that there is not much hope, all you can do is record destruction by photo and write about it in a blog?
It all looks very remote up there, and probably very beautiful, nagging the local wardens will have at least brought it to their attention.

Thanks - here is the blog. Google picks it up already. I wonder whether anyone can point to the regulations on quarrying stone? As there is so much in this valley I'd neglected this site. It must have been habited for many centuries but I've no photographs of it. No befores - just afters!

The county archaeologist with responsibility for this part of the county will reply to my complaint within fifteen days.

I'll try and get some more photographs of it later in the week, if anyone wants to give me cover. There's been no more vandalism of my basecamp. One of the curricks seems missing - the one that marks the summer solstice sunset. The road was consolidated by a thirty tonne vibrating roller and the quarry for stone has also opened up a seam of yellow ochre.
