Rimside is an evocative place, even on a nice sunny day. I've been near there after dark (Millstone burn rock art) and the thought of wandering about in that heather in search of livestock, especially after midnight? Well, I can't see how that could be a fun experience.

It's interesting that it gets no mention in Dixon's 'Whittingham Vale', so maybe the tale had already fallen out of use by the turn of the 19th/20thC.
