Much of Ireland's rock art is under turf and i don't mind not being able to find it to be honest. Until a way of protecting it while exposed can be developed that's where it should stay.

Perhaps the best way to maintain Rock Art is to reproduce it. The stuff in the Museum of Antiquities is perflectly safe, but out of context and only available to the elite - that'll brave the warren of the N. U. campus.

The worst damage has been done by farmers and landowners who haven't realised the value of the stones. I put one under turf last year and exposed three. Put a small piece back in the stream and brought home - and recorded the find - another small piece from the same stream.

Will I find anything this year?
