Hi Pete and Four Winds,

Thanks for that - will be interesting to see how it actually works out. Although it will probably be easier to reach West Kennett now, I'll miss that kind of ritual slog up the narrow track. That in itself was very spiritual.

Progress, eh? Well, I suppose it is if the birds and plants can re-establish themselves . . .

My last trip up there was with a pushchair (I'm not sure why I did that, but there you go), so I'm rather disappointed that they aren't building a nice concrete promenade!

I went to have a look today. The rences on both sides of the track have been taken down and the path leveled.
Much better access. If they get rid of the Kissing gates even people in wheelchairs should be able to get up the hill.
