Graffiti at WKLB. lock

close

A swastika has been chalked on a stone to the right just before the last chamber. A certain person who might (looking over shoulder for libel lawyers) have done it has been seen in the area recently.
This is the same person who was suspected of defacing the Nine Stones of Winterborne Abbas last year.

Grrrrrrrr :(

Is this neo-nazi stuff? or the more ancient use of the hooked cross?

Before everyone starts forming a queue for the next lynching, it might be an idea to spare a thought for the probability that the guy's mentally ill.

Let's hope the Rats get 'em!

** I have no idea who this person is but aren't Nazi's only allowed wax crayons?

Sorry folks, again you have the wrong guy. I have posted my response to these new allegations at Meg.co.uk in the Forum, headings entitled: time to move on and message for andy burnham.

With the amount of rain we are having the insides of WKLB will be nice and clean when it stops.
Mind you the floor will be in even more of a mess.
I see scribblings on the stones quite often. I once saw "Jesus is Victor" written across the top cap stone.

Last Saturday someone I don't know on another list (not connected with the Portal) claimed they saw the BNP at Avebury for the Spring equinox.

I think we should get Simon Wiesenthal on the case...
.do these morons know what they are doing?...do they have a single brain cell between there ears?..

See what trouble you cause when reporting lies. Now you know how poor old teufel feels don't you? I personally think you have it in for me because I have got lots of hair shorty!

As Mr Croley has set such a precedent in attempting to reclaim what are generally perceived as unacceptable images, I thought it might be time to reclaim another that some find offensive...

We all know that some children swear in an effort to upset their parents. The parent's imidiate reaction is frequently to stop the child, which encourages the child to do so all the more.

The word "cunt", for example, has been misused for centuries, and can be traced way back to Pagan origins (see "The Modern Antiquarian" - an educational pamphlet by Julian Cope. I'll not quote it here, as it seems we like to keep one another guessing. "If you don't know about it then you're just ignorant")

It is my view that by encouraging swearing, it will lessen the impact of the word, making it less big and less clever.

I wonder, therefore, if Mr Croley would think it acceptable if we were to reclaim this particular word, and chalk it on places he deems to be of equal reverence to the places he thinks it alright to draw swastikas.

I could take a 400 square foot purple model of the word "cunt" around with me to gauge the reaction I get. I bet none of us would be surprised by it. I'd not come on here expecting sympathy. Even if I were to claim "the lizards made me do it!"

For the record, I don't think you're a nazi. I think you're deliberately misunderstanding the reason why people are pissed off with your behaviour. If you're so convinced you're right and we're ignorant and don't understand and we're idiots - explain yourself!

Personally, I think your reluctance to explain is indicative of your uncertainty as to your "truth" and acceptability. I just think you're misguided. Convince me otherwise and I'll be equally as happy.

I wish peace and love and that on everyone, but it's cos I'm a nice bloke. I won't force it on people. My idea of happiness is probably certainly not everybody's...

... can someone tell me who "Teufel" is?

Cheers!

....is this thread done now? I don't reckon Mike has the courage or maturity to own his actions or beliefs and we're just repeating ourselves.

...Looks like my last posting must have been defamatory in some way seeing as how it has been removed. I apologise, but I was pretty sure my research on Mike and the Masons was right.
Oh well, I'm sure you would have enjoyed it.
Will email the webmaster to find out.

What a bizarre thread - having just waded thru.

FWIW, I have no problems with your beliefs Mike.

I DO have a problem with ANYONE chalking ANYTHING on prehistoric monuments (or defacing or damaging them in other ways). So, did you do it? And do you see why you shouldn't - again whatever the medium or symbol you use?

For this forum, the whole swastika thing is a kinda side issue I guess, but incidentally, I agree with the peeps that say that the swastika has been tainted for ever by the nazis (and I REALLY don't think many/any here think you are one!)

So no matter what its (actually reasonably well-known to most people here) positive meanings, MANY people are always gonna find it offensive. So it seems to me that it's not a good choice of symbol to hang your whole 'philosophy' (for want of a better word) on.

So did you chalk or have you ever chalked anything on ancient monuments? If so, will you please not do it again because it can (maybe subtley) damage them, it disfigures them (albeit pretty temporarily) and many people find it offensive - esp if it's a swastika.

I think everyone'd be reasonably happy if you said that you will never take any chalk to a monument or mark or deface one in any way - whether you have in the past or not. How about it? A straight answer'd be nice.
