STOP Family Protest March - Saturday 9th April 2005

Assemble at the GWR Park, Faringdon Road, Swindon at 11:00am for an 11:20am departure. March through the town centre from a symbolic remaining Swindon green space to the Civic Offices, the seat of local power in Swindon. The route will be through the Railway Village, past the Mechanics' Institution, up Farnsby Street, into Havelock Street, right into Regent Street and across into Euclid Street for a rally and speeches after 12:00 midday.

Tell your neighbours, bring them along, bring your children and parents, friends and family. Make and bring appropriate banners, signs and placards, bring a whistle, a trumpet, a drum or a football rattle along!

Don't forget to download and make a miniature STOP sign - we will plant these in the lawn by the Civic Offices.

This event will be held the week before Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire County Council have to respond to the Draft Sub-Regional Spatial Strategy, a week before the Coate session at the Local Plan Inquiry and the month before a probable General Election.

As per last year’s march, the police and council will be fully informed and this will be a peaceful show of public opposition to poor planning decisions and the current proposals for the expansion of Swindon.
