Get yourself some fast film that will allow shorter shutter speeds, ISO 800 or above. Your camera should allow you to then set an equivalent ISO speed (there should be a dial somewhere with ISO 50, 100 etc on it.

You can also get fairly inexpensive monopods in Jessops that look like a high tech walking stick until you stick the camera on top, that will also help prevent blurry shots.

If your camera has an 'A' mode that allows you to select aperature, use that and select the smallest aperature number ie. F2.8/3.5

Just to add to the monopod idea, here's a tutorial on how to get the best out of them, the obvious way of using them isnt always the best! A monopod also makes a great companion for walking across bogland and uphill.
