I went to see the equinox sunrise at these two cool stone circles on wednesday, as I've said on me blog and fieldnotes I think I've discovered a solar alignment, nothing marks the spot where the sun rises but I can't beleive it's just a coincidence. The sun rises directly between the two rings reminding me of the Gossan stones mentioned earlier.
Does this constitute an alignment?
Has it ever been mentioned before?

Maybe the point to look for is the one where the sun rises over the middle of the northerly circle at midsummer and the southerly one at midwinter, along the line you were standing on. That would give a threeway marker.

If indeed they align that way of course!

The two circles appear to be aligned N-S buth they are very close and also possibly rebuilt if the sun rose /set in an obvious notch on the east/west horizon you might have something but would need to prove if their was "intent by design" .

Thanks slumpy it may take a few years but I will check them out eventually
although the ground rises both to the north-east and the south-east.

Thanks Cian, not quite back to the drawing board I hope ,I'm sure the symmetry
wouldn't have been lost on them.
