Silbury Hill

I think - without going Google - that that's called a Gnomon. The equivalent hill in the S Tyne Valley (it's a drumlin) from certain directions looks very much like an Egyptian pyramid - though one might expect to be ridiculed for suggesting it. It does hint at long distance trade routes and the similarity of belief.

A gnomon casts a shadow whereas 2 gnomons with holes in them cast narrow shafts of light and are much more of a precision instrument.

I'm surprised you haven't built a large scale mjysterious solstice light box out of stone. The Arts Council would be suckers for it if you gave them the right chat. It would be the talk of the Islington dinner tables. ;)
