there's all the timetables for public transport for all the sections. We might do Ivinghoe down to Whiteleaf or Bledlow, to get us warmed up. I'm mad for it ... I love the Ridgeway, me ... I found so many mad places there, seen some awesome views, been to some truly hardcore free festies, even had the living shit scared out of me by the Overton Hill Corn Monsters ...

all excited now, especially since my cheapo copy of Burl's "Stone Circles" has just turned up, along with complimentary copy of "Stonehenge - Neolithic Man and Cosmos" by John North - including an extra special Whiteleaf Cross section - cheers AndyB/Megalithic

unfortunately, somebody has burgled my office - waiting for the cops to turn up. Why can't burglars nick things you never want to see again, like the big pile of faulty electronic things I've got to analyse and fix ...

My big Japanese Boss came down, and was horrified at the mess, until someone pointed out that this is what it usually looks like in The Developer Pit

At the risk of disappointing you, I should warn that the John North book makes some rather unfeasible claims.

I received said book for my 50th birthday and trolled around for 18 months or so, before coming to the conclusion that he was rather off the beam on pretty much everything.

Two summers ago I walked from a white horse in the area (one of the smaller ones, can't recall the name--starts with an "H" I think--Higpen?) to West Kennet. About seven miles; a nice walk! Spent a lot of time exploring the Greywethers...very magical spot.

I do want to walk the whole thing at some point. My trip over in a few days won't allow me the time (but I will be in London, Glastonbury, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and to the Rollrights for a couple days apiece!) but I hope to do a pilgrimage walk, the whole track, all at once next time I visit. In the fall if I can afford it, but more likely next summer...

BTW, I will probably miss solstice eve at the Rollrights, but will be there Monday the 24th for the full moon/lunar eclipse! If anyone's around...stop by! I'll be playing warden with the summer resident wardens there for a night or two.
