Come off it Mr SG, we cover far more in the North than anywhere else and always have. Take a look.

As for your hundred threatened sites I don't recall you submitting any of them to us on our online form - http://www.heritageaction.org/?page=heritagealerts_raiseanalert
Even if you did I guess we'd be looking to you to provide 99% of the effort, that's how it has to work when there are thousands of problems out there.

You have illustrated the problem though - unpaid amateurs who volunteer to try to do a few things are expected to do far more, and perfectly, and are considered fair game for criticising when they don't. Well stuff that, says I. Now, if you're talking paying a decent salary....

;)

Holymire - but that was probably before the online form was there. It's a classic Cumbrian Great Circle - under rushes - needs protecting from the owner who is bulldozer-crazy (and has a Roman carving in his garden wall). The diameter of the circle may be 75m. - it's a double circle, perhaps with an entrance, and is a true circle and needs scheduling. Local accomodation either Cumberland Hotel or the YHA or campsite in Alston.

Toothills - strange and unaltered long barrow in midst of houses and playing fields. Two associated round barrows nearby - one of these pristine. Toothills has a complete but decrepit horned-forecourt, to NE, and is threatened by development - there's a new estate being built below - and neglect - erosion by trampling. This needs listing on the SMR and scheduling by E.H. Local accomodation at the Swan Hotel or nearest YHA.

And then there's the carved stones in Knarsdale!
