I haven't seen the programme but I gather it is being theorised that the top of the hill may have been removed, maybe a thousand years ago.
No it doesn't, in fact recent finds of just two arrowheads and evidence of a large post hole from the Anglo-Saxon/Norman period are hardly indications that there was any serious alteration of the summit or any extended period of occupation there; wouldn't rule it out completely however, but the theory needs backing up with a lot more archaeological evidence. Does anyone know what evidence is being offered for this? Finding artefacts of that period doesn't prove much, does it?
