That really is so very evocative of a time long gone, not all of it good. Bet it was blooming chilly out in the privy during winter, they were cold back then (and BIG spiders). Up til now the author (although he has mentioned Silbury as somewhere he played) hasn't mentioned the Stones, almost as if they were a backdrop to the village and very much taken for granted as just farmers land. Perhaps he will mention them later.
