I once read that all the stone circles were built by the Beaker people.
Can't trust Everything you read can you?
Silbury could have had a covering of wattle and daub or wooden stakes or even snails!
There are layers of snails on the inside.
When the hill was burnt to clear the growth every year Silbury looked black for a month.

You could've read it lots of places too, I think. But I'm not sure exactly what actual evidence there is.

I like the idea & have heard it said of (some) barrows. There was also some evidence that gypsum was used to make the Tbro henges white too.
