"I strongly support the EH plan and cannot see what all the fuss is about....... If it makes you feel that you have struck a blow for Silbury - fine."

OK, since you haven't so far indicated what degree of loss is acceptable, let me help you by quoting EH's own figures:

NEW loss expected if grouting is carried out - 450 cubic feet ( a couple of small living rooms)

NEW loss expected if tunnelling is carried out - 5,860 cubic feet (about six average houses)

That's the basis on which EH has decided to tunnel, and you've decided to warmly support them.

I, on the other hand, support neither plan, but have simply called for a public explanation. NOTHING ELSE. If I can strike a blow for Silbury to that end then yes, fine.

Persuade me why I'm wrong and you're right, if you wish.

>NEW loss expected if tunnelling is carried out - 5,860 cubic feet (about six average houses)

and how much of that has already been removed by Atkinsons bulldozers in the 60's?
EH are not planning NEW tunnels are they?

>NEW loss expected if tunnelling is carried out - 5,860 cubic feet (about six average houses)
So if 6 houses worth are taken out from the 10" tube around the Old tunnel how many houses would fill the void left before they fill it in again?
