Vote for Silbury!

>As long as Silbury gets fixed I'm happy. Demanding info on every decision will just delay things further and put Silbury in more danger as more people clamber all over it and those inner voids migrate upwards.<

Unpalatable though it might be (not being given all the info by EH) I agree that things are getting desperate and delays are only exacerbating the danger of further collapses. I accept that those delays are mainly due to EH not acting sooner and I commend Nigel and others for badgering them at every opportunity. Things however are now getting critical and I was horrified to see how the summit had slumped when I saw Silbury last week. The slump is clearly visible in Photobabe's recently posted (and beautiful) photo at -

Compare the collapsing summit with Holy's photo taken in December 2001 (I think from the same direction though closer) -

We've got to start pulling together on this before it really does become too late.

Sorry, Holy's photo is at -

This Slump is a bit of a trick of the eye as there are long grasses and nettles that grow on the edge during the summer.
I have been taking photos from the same spot as photobabe for 3 years now and you can clearly see the vegetation rising. Having said that from another angle (at Trusloe bus stop) the side slumps do appear to be moving down.
You should have popped up to the Knoll down dig while you were here.
Geophysics has recently uncovered another 2 stones of the Beckhampton avenue and a series of burning pits but more about that later...
