Oh joy!

But you just don't get it, do you?

The simple facts are EH is the guardian of Silbury, whether we like it or not. They are funded by the people's money. Ours. Therefore it is up to EH to be accountable to the people (it's OUR money they'll be spending on OUR hill) and state ALL their reasons for their decision.

The people -us- haven't got ALL the facts, therefore nobody can truly say 'I favour their decision' because none of us know all the facts on which to base an opinion.

Will all the facts be printed in the British Archeao comic? I doubt it.

Oh I get it but since when have EH given out information about Any of their projects?
Even tho Silbury is a national tresaure is actual Belongs to Lord Avebury who has entrusted EH with its care.
In a less enlightened age a previous Lord Avebury could have flattened the hill if he chose to.
EH will only give out what info they think the public should see and then do what it wants as it has always done.
As long as Silbury gets fixed I'm happy. Demanding info on every decision will just delay things further and put Silbury in more danger as more people clamber all over it and those inner voids migrate upwards.

Jane, the last time EH used that particular organ to transmit something important was just before Christmas when they announced the repair options.

HA described it as a "horribly incomplete account", but then they have to stay moderate. I, on the other hand, who have no reputation to lose and don't give a tinker's scrotum what anyone says about me, would describe it as twisted to buggery. Just a hint of why I might think that can be gained from HA's detailed commentary about it in March http://www.heritageaction.org/?page=heritagealerts_silburyhill_crucialdecision

Mike Pitts, the British Archaeology editor expressed the view that tunnelling was the most exciting of the options. The article is titled "Silbury Hill to be Saved?" If it's not based on the recent EH bland news release and devoid of an explanation for why "most damage" is preferable to "least damage" I'll be a touch surprised (though very happy that it's all resolved!)

I'm in favour Jane, obviously for my own reasons but, I'm intrigued what they're going to tell the rest of you. Apart for my own reason, there is no other reason why they need to dig a tunnel. How, if ever, will they manage to convince you!

I can't wait to hear them talk their way around this one but, they will, that's for sure. Do you agree with me that Nige' would be a good candidate to put 'your' case forward or has something different been decided?
