common sense prevails for once - well done

Good news. :o)

It was a daft proposal in the first place - probably by someone with no knowledge of its archaeological significance.

BTW Pete, I'll be back this weekend to help take down the yurt, so see you soon. :o)

well done pete ! .at last ,someone in charge with a brain

Yes - well done to all involved - can't believe it went as far as it did! What's wrong with the world, eh?

Now all we need to do is stop the thing from collapsing and we're done!

Peer wins battle of Silbury Hill

Lord Avebury was celebrating a victory yesterday after the Planning Inspectorate ruled that the 4,700-year-old Silbury Hill in Wiltshire, Europe's largest man-made mound, should not become open country under the new right-to-roam legislation.

The Liberal Democrat peer, who has the freehold of the land, had objected at a public inquiry last month to the Countryside Agency's attempt to reclassify the 130ft mound as "unimproved chalk grassland".
