Nah... still don't buy the size matters argument Baz. Sure it's relevant but not as relevant as, say, it's location or shape. If the Silbury builders really wanted to make a BIG statement they could have built it up on Waden Hill where it would have been visible from a lot further away - instead they chose to build it on one of the lowest points in the Avebury landscape - why? Who knows, but it would seem to indicate that water was probably more important in the overal scheme of things than size.

I would say that both size, shape and location matter. Main thing is it is just the right size to be seen in a certain way where it is.

If it collapses it will still be in the same place but it won't be the same size :-)

Walk the Ridgeway. Walk the Wansdyke. Yes location is important, but if it wasn't that fecking big it wouldn't be what it is.
