Silbury Hill

Let's Buy Silbury!

Actually, Nigel, by drawing public attention to the fact that the hill is in a dangerous state because of neglect (if not negligence) you place EH in a difficult position. If someone was subsequently injured whilst trespassing on the hill, EH could not argue that they (EH) were unaware of the risk. You could claim that you had been trying to draw their attention to this risk, but they had ignored your warnings and had torn down your signs (if they had) that you had placed there in the public interest.

I think they're caught up in their own little fib really - I suspect it's safe, but they had a notice up saying it was closed for "health and safety reasons", which isn't the same, but may have been their way of discouraging people from climbing it, for good conservation reasons.
But they can hardly now say we're wrong to say it's dangerous.
I suggested using the phrase "no maintenance" to tweak their noses really. What it needs is repair, not maintenance, but they can't correct the word without admitting it's safe and highlighting it's still not repaired. Stuff them.
