Yeah I saw that and thought, "it can't have been a very pleasant visit after the wading".

Heh!

No, the wading wasn't a particularly pleasant experience, as I'm a useless swimmer, but it would have taken a half-hour detour via the nearest footbridge, and I wanted to have enough time to appreciate the carvings, but still get back to the bus-stop in time. I'd sat on a bus for an hour and a half, getting a tour of Northumberland's finest opencast mining sites and remand centres, so I was damned if I wasn't going to see the rock art. The Coquet isn't a wide river, so it was only a short plodge. Boots hung around the neck, rizlas clenched between my teeth (the twisted priorities of a nicotine addict). Fortunately I dried off quite quickly, as there was a breeze and sunshine, just as well, otherwise I might have not been allowed on the bus. There's a bit of irony in that I'd passed a discarded, but serviceable, dinghy earlier, and promptly ignored it.

The site was worth the inconvenience though, it's unique. I didn't plan to have to get wet, but the site sort of seems to expect it.

But I'm sure someone can come up with something even worse.
I'd say that's a dead cert. Especially if weather is taken into account.
