Some of my colleagues worked on this project - and Chris Stringer, the director, is an Emeritus Prof at our place (Royal Holloway Uni of London). So I'd better get along as well I guess!!

Chris Stringer appears in this little video on the making of the two figures (Neanderthal and Homo sapien that appear in the exhibition) by the two, very enthusiastic, Dutch brothers....

which made me also remember the two bison carved out of clay at the entrance to The Ice Age Exhibition, which must also have been a reproduction. 14,000 years old they were found at the back of Tuc D'audoubert Cave.
Looking back at that exhibition which was truly spectacular in prehistoric finds one gets a profound sense of the real meaning of ritual wrapped round art work...
