What if it has got cup=marks on ?? It could just be an ordinary bit of rock quarried for the purpose though. I suppose you've got to go to somewhere with hard rock if you want a piece of hard rock. Maybe a bit of portland stone or something just wasn't right. Buut, does it look like a 'proper' standing stone I wonder. Does it look all squeaky and straight edged.?
