Our leather sofa is only two years old yet it has two clearly defined cup marks on the armrests, my wife has ruled out ritual usage of the soft furnishings..

Could these stones just be re-used?

Well, that's the bugger innit? The thing that might settle it, would be where they are in the souterrain. Is there consistency of placement.

Hello Hob ,Canmore lists 744 souterrains in Scotland , I know of 12 with rock art ,so a very small percentage . The marked rocks tend to be at entrances and lintels with no particular preference for for right or left .
