So far on this carving I've gone from excitement once uncovered, to somethings not right 2 mins later, excitement again & now humbug reigns once more......oh the joy of RA!!

Even if these carvings are not prehistoric they are still of some interest.
Just like the Shiehallion carvings. Long after the original meaning of the carvings has been lost, someone has been inspired enough to create a carving of their own. This may say something about the longevity of the carving tradition and the ability of these strange little marks to inspire, not just copies, the creation of new motifs. I suppose this could overlap into the modern debate regarding Graffitti as art and why some human beings feel the need to leave their mark on a place.
