Ditto Carn Euny village:

"Go late in the afternoon and see if the black and white sheep dog greets you and gives you the guided tour. It was very obliging when I was there with the family and went out of it's way to point out the fogou, before retiring to a discreet distance, all the while keeping an eye out to make sure we didn't cause trouble, then escorted us back to the car park."

Not a scary dog thankfully, it was a canny old Border Collie. I'd love to think it was still there doing the guide routine.

Lots of sites in Ireland have self-appointed Border Collie Guardians/Guides. It got to the point that as soon as we pulled up near a site in the middle of nowhere, we'd look for the Border Collie Guide who would show us the way! I remember the one at Argdgroom Outwards was particularly helpful and friendly.

Last August in Scotland, there was a BC at Cullerlie, although that site is very near a farm.
