As soon as I saw Earthstepper's picture I was amazed at the human form of this stone. Earthstepper describes it as a "venus figure", and although I certainly wouldn't call it after that particular goddess I am pretty certain that this stone is significant because of its female form. Which goddess? The clue's in the stone's other name, I feel - the Breeding Stone (Bride's Stone, to my eye). Michael Dames would love this stone! He'd describe it as an image of "the" goddess squatting in childbirth. I'd only disagree with the "the".

The venus figures I referred to are not of the "de Milo" type, but the sexy little rotund ones of Willendorf, Dolni Vestonice etc. Not really claiming that it is a palaeolithic figure, but just that it looks similar.

*If* it ever was an image of a figure then the name certainly does point to Brigid & Bride.

Nice bit of rock!

Also, great to see so many posts for Scilly. I love those entrance graves.
