Excellent blog post arrived this morning in my email. Melancholia by Balfarg.

There is a marvellous photo of a man called Fred Coles in this link at the Nine Stanes SC, though the subject is about a stone circle that no longer exists in Clackmannanshire.

Fred Coles was photographed with companion at the Nine Stane stone circle here, note how different it was then to now.

That's a great photo; the interior of the circle definitely seems to have been tidied up since 1904.

Thank goodness for Fred Coles, sometimes he did get it wrong, but he noted the sites and for that I'm truly grateful. The site at the Nine Stanes is tidier but weird thanks to all the recent tree cutting, a totally different atmosphere to these I have felt before.
