Postman! I've just been reading your blog here:
http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/user/7597/weblog/0/49437
and I had to comment about the swallows nesting in the beehive at Carn Euny. We were at West Kennet LB on Saturday evening and watched with the same simple joy as you at the swallows zipping in and out at high speeds between the stones as they returned to their nest inside the long barrow. To be that close to a swallow flying so fast and so acurately was sheer joy...

Jane, I'd love to see your impression through one of your paintings of this experience you've described

A couple of years ago I visited Kilmartin with my friend and crawled into
the Dunchraigaig Cairn http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/490 for a photo op. As I rolled around, trying to get comfy, I looked up and 2 inches above my nose was the BIGGEST, black slug you have ever seen....shudder! The look on my face, when Vicky took the picture, was a sight to behold!!
