Travelled through Avebury this afternoon on my way to Devizes and noticed there was water flowing in the Winterbourne. It has been bone dry all through winter and spring - up till now.

They should move it to Cornwall June, plenty of water here :-)
I'd have thought you'd be pleased to hear this news, given you've written a book about the importance of this little river in the ancient landscape of the Avebury.

Indeed. It was (in my opinion) very important in times gone by!
