"like to see it etched into a brass plaque and screwed onto one of the many walls in Avebury that are made from the shattered sarsens of a once great monument"

Well no, I'd rather it wasn't on display inside the henge, too much of a downer, but it would be good to have it up at the Bonds Garage site. That has particular modern resonances (and is the reason the Stukeley quote is so incredibly relevant to this thread. Wasn't it the NT that didn't buy it and wasn't it the Avebury Parish Council, not grockles, that voted to allow the development? Unluckily plac'd or wot?!

Bonds (formerly Rawlin’s Garage and Roadhouse) was an Art Deco building with a lot of character and lots of associations. Its demolition was a sad loss, and the building of five unattractive houses there, situated as they are so close to the north-east quadrant of the Henge, an even greater sadness.

The concrete markers to lost stones in the Henge are also Art Deco by the way.
