The Negotiating Avebury Project have returned to Avebury and started an excavation at Falkners Circle near west kennet avenue.

It's quite amazing that the they are finding stuff so shallow on farmland, especially at a field head.
You've usually got feet/centuries of stuff to dig through till you find the good stuff.
How old is the field/boundary, burnt layer could be more recent (i dunno, scrub/tree bole clearance... just curious :)
