Following Julian Cope's Croydon gig on 18th September, and whilst I'm still in posession of a valid weekend pass-out, I'm aiming to blow away whatever hang-over I may be nursing by finally visiting Avebury, for the first time!

Should anybody else be in the vicinity, willing to show me a round, I'll gladly say hello and might even buy you a hairy dog.

Not definite yet but i may well be there, if i am i'd be happy to show you around.
Are you staying the night there. ?

Sadly we're going in the opposite direction to do Offa's Dyke part 3 that weekend.

Was in Calamity Country 10 days ago - went up Titterstone Clee for the first time for about 20 years. Great spot. And Kington/Radnor yesterday (okay, a bit out of your immediate vicinity).

If work doesn't get in the way I should be able to get over there. I am certainly no expert but would be happy to go along with you.

:o)

In all seriousness, KC, if you're limited for time - especially if it's your first visit! - you'll have PLENTY to do if you just stick to the main bits! The circle, Silbury, West Kennett Long Barrow, Swallowhead Spring... It's always good to leave wanting to come back for more. :)

I'll probably 'bump' this thread, closer to the day. By then I'll have a better idea of my ETA - and whoever's likely to be in the vicinity will also have more of an idea of their whereabouts, too.

TTFN

so nobody's there on sunday then?

Well, it turned out to be a very intimate meet up, indeed.

I managed to get some lovely photos and digital movie clips whilst sauntering around. Unfortunately my Flickr account settings won't allow me any more bandwidth this month, as I've gone and uploaded lots of photos of the Croydon gig. However, if you have Facebook you can get a special preview, here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=280693&id=741631196&ref=mf

I can't seem to find a post featuring the the videos I made that included my Avebury clips among all the posts in this thread, so here they are, finally. Please forgive the repetition, should the links be in here, somewhere.
