So go on then. Tell me what I missed! Its been quiet in here tonight reading all the old posts and cursing car thieves.
I turned down a lift from Ironman because I was promised a local ride that fell though. B*&%$^8*%^$£$3!
PeteG ( sad bastard at home in Avebury)

Yes it was excellent.
The running order was like this
Intro by Julian
then 45 minutes of Aubrey Burl talking about John Aubury, William Stukely and the different "ages" of development of Avebury
Then followed the Avebury segment of Julians Modern Antiquarian programme
and finally 45 minutes of Dr Mark Gillings and Dr Joshua Pollard talking about the excavation of the Beckhampton Avenue.
There was supposed to be a question and answer session at the end but 3 questions in the fire alarms went off and the museum was evacuated while 3 fire engines turned up to check it out. It must have been a false alarm but by the time it was all checked out most people had gone and the event was over. Everyone including Julian had great fun taking photographs of fire engines and that was that.
A very good if not slightly truncated event. Aubery Burl was facsinating Gillings and Pollard were entertaining and the account of the Beckhampton Avenue was really interesting.

Thats it
Afterwards all the Head Heritagers ajourned to the Museum Tavern Moey and myself finally stopped lurking and introduced ourselves it was good to meet everyone and put faces to the names.

Sorry you couldn't get there

It was a great evening and I found the discussion about the lost stones (and lost avenue) intriguing. It's strange to think there's still stuff to be discovered even after all this time.

We also had a little bit of drama - the fire alarms going off (just like last time!) which cut short the Q+A session at the end. So we all spent the final part of the evening outside the museum in the drizzle chatting to Julian.
