My first visit - my first visit to any megalithic site, in fact - must have been during 1983 when my sister's then husband was stationed at RAF Lyneham. Right on, NOT! He's since history, the sucker.
I had an Avebury 'first' this very day; finally got to see the polisher stone after several failed attempts at finding it. PeteG kindly led me up there and I'm afraid I did that 'tourist' thing and asked him to take a photo of me with the polisher stone in the foreground. He took the photo then said 'look behind you' ... the Red Arrows flew by at that very moment (there was an RAF display taking place at Lyneham). Magic or what ...

You lucky lady! I'm looking forward to meeting PeteG sometime soon. Seems like he's the dood who knows this region better than anyone, from what everyone tells me. And the right attitude to boot! (btw - my 1st down here was years back, for worrits worth; with some hobbyist tourist-types)

But if you're into getting yuer teeth into some serious decent megalithics, when did anyone first visit the Kilmartin complex? Somewhat kicks the shit outta Avebury, don't y' think!? And then worrabout the 1st time anyone visited Brimham? Or Little Meg? Or the Swastika Stone?
