Hi,

this is a link to a post which refers to Avebury - it doesn't seem to have surfaced under its site-specific heading though?

I came across that a while ago and ranted at them . It's incredible behaviour , possibly criminal .

yes, i think those web pages have been up for a long while, and the story dates back apparently 12 years: very odd that it seems to be an invisible issue - i think 'Avebury Chat' (forum) discussed it as well? because if one stone was trundled off into the middle of the night, have there been others? keeping buried sarsen stones buried is a really stupid thing to do, in the light of this alleged incident - in theory, any maverick can remove a buried stone - say at ploughing time, around Avebury - bundle it off - and no-one would be any the wiser, until Time Team happen by 300 years into the future :(
