We all know that Avebury has been "Done to death" but like other famous sites of public interest you dont have to go far to experience solitude, a mystical feeling, a sense of wonder or an appreciation of history or architecture. Although an "Agnostic" in the broadest sense I find that I can get all of the above by visiting my local cathedral (Winchester) It depends what turns you on. Mind you I go down the pub afterwards!
Jimit :-)

I'm wit chu on that one jimit matey.
I get my kicks at Durham Cathedral, which is a really special spot.
Although I subscribe to the god squad, the building is just full of spitual vibes.
You can really understand the relationship between stones and the spitit.
Check out the lozenges and the zig zags carved into the mighty pillars.
The great cathedrals are just megalithic building taken to it's most sublime peak
The Monk's domitory has the most fantastic collection of pre conquest carved stone work, from beautiful crosses to hogbacks. Well worth a peek if your passing.
