Okay I might be completely confusing the issue here but I always thought one of the pubs was at Corsham, near to Pickwick but refuse to read Dickens to confirm this ;) much easier to type a couple of words on the internet.....

"Corsham inspired Charles Dickens to write The Pickwick Papers, and create the character Moses Pickwick, from the landlord of the Hare and Hounds"

I once ran out of petrol in Pickwick, and wandered around for ages looking for a garage, somehow I ended up in this cottage with an old lady, who kindly made me a cup of tea and then gave directions to the nearest garage..Pickwick is therefore engraved in my memory.

and, Moss, as you may know, he stayed at the Saracen's Head in Bath. Which is rubbish now and full of people watching football. But if I ever go in there it makes me happy to think of it.

The Waggon and Horses used to ba called the Hare & Hounds.
Stukeley names it on his sketches of Beckhampton.
