Took a walk upon Fyfield Down last year and found it quite eerie, despite the good weather we were almost the only people there. Cannot wait to get back up there this year, have been trying to get down to Avebury again since new year but the weather (or rather the often-erroneous weather forecasts) have made us put it off week after week.

Yes, I was the only person there also (apart from Rex and the sheep) and I stayed a good two hours.
At one point I had put my camera bag down and then forgot where I had put it after wandering about looking for the Polisher. So it was probably just as well lol.
It is indeed quite an eerie place but I also enjoy the solitude and expanse of the whole area. The wnd was blowing with some gusto so that also added to the effect. I actally took a liking to the old house and could imagie myself living there (I can dream I suppose)
It is a bit of a hike for us townies but well worth doing and I might go up prior to or after the Megameet.
This time I will make sure the batteries on the GPS are not about to gasp their last breath just as I am about to look around!!!
