A 'degenerate dead religion' sounds like an oxymoron (you might have a dead religion, or a degenerate religion, but perhaps not both at the same time). And if the 'bones' are made of plaster is it not reasonable to assume that they are casts taken from originals? That being the case, the original bones should be (lying ;-) around somewhere. Or has said museum lost said originals? In which case perhaps you should be directing your displeasure in the direction of said 'degenerate' museum for not protecting our heritage (by mislaying said bones) rather than towards said 'degenerate religious group'.
Dashed good reasoning Holmes!

On which topic, the new appropriate phrase, I assume, would be "A miserable band of suspended resuscitators belonging to a fringe Order of an allegedly once degenerate and now dead religion, except for those who profess to still follow it"

This is beginning to give me an idea for a Dead Druidry sketch:

"When I purchased this Druidry from this 'ere boutique not half a millenium ago you assured me it was alive!"

"Ooh yes sir! Lovely Druidry that! The Degenerate Celtic-Blue"

"Pining for the Slaughter Stone?! What sort of talk is that?"

etc.

I'm also planning to treat myself this evening to a cod special from the local chippie :-)
