Actually I've just realised I put the question below to the wrong person, so I'll repeat it to the right one:

Can I ask what this "degenerate dead religion" is of which you speak? Not Christianity surely? That still has some life in it.

If you read your Roman history you will find the ancient British Druids practiced inflicting a lethal wound on a prisoner so as to divine the future from his death-struggles, along with other horrors that modern day druids dare not practice.
Seems a pretty degenerate and dead religion to me.
