It's been a few years since I've been, but you'll always get the ego-driven wankers at these sorta events. They're magnets for it. Shouldn't mean everyone gets tarred with the same brush. And why does it all have to be "serious"?

That is a usual theme of Beltane, and Samhain also usually has chaotic elements.

Also, the word "circus" is an emotive one isn't it? One man's circus......etc.
