On a recent trip to Avebury I was caught speeding outside the village on the A4361. I'm a bit peeved about this because as the road has no street lighting and is in a non built up area I would have assumed that the limit would have been 40mph wheas it is actually 30mph.

Seemingly 88% of vehicles caught on this road are over the speed limit.

oh thats just wiltshire polices cash cow.
Boat loads of locals have been caught and are furious with the fines.
Villagers have been asking the council to make the speed limit more sensible.
IE: 60 to 40 then to 30 not as it is now.
30 - 60 -30
but the council says not enough children have been killed there yet to warrant a change in the road signs.
(It needs 3 deaths over a 2 year period apparently)
