Hi all,

I'm new here so sorry if this is a bit off topic or has alread been covered somewhere but does anyone remember being in Avebury in the summer of the late 70s ( summer of 76-79) for a whole pig roasting?

I used to live in one of the houses on what was Wallaces Farm at Winterbourne Monkton back then and went to infant school in Avebury and I have some vague memories of a whole pig roasting on a spit at a festival of some kind. Does anyone remember the exact year that happened? I know it made the local press as I have a clipping from the newspaper but sadly no date.

Hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me on this :0)

Thanks

Simon

That would be the queens jubilee.
There were photos in show in Avebury school last autumn when they did a project on village life.

Greetings Eviltoad,
If you know the paper they came from, then they may well still have the negatives in their archives. Also, try the countly library/museum, who may have copies of the paper on microfilm, or something similar. I know my local papers can be viewed this way dating back donkeys years.
All the best in your quest,
TE.
